Drilling of an oil and gas well consist of drilling fluid as a primary and most vital component in its operation. Drilling Fluids play various role and function in drilling a well. All the essential parameters such as viscosity, mud weight, plastic viscosity (PV), yield point (YP) and others needs to be maintained and optimised at all times to ensure safe operation. However failure in any parameters may cause occurrence of hole problems which is not desired.
Drilling mud cost about approximately five percentage of total cost incurred in drilling a well.
